Our Building Adventure
We moved to raw land in the Bulkley valley in the spring of 2007. We had to set up a driveway, a well, building sites for the house and barn, put fences around the horses as they grazed. It was such a whirlwind of activity it is only now that I have time to post a few pictures of that busy time.
The machinery did save us about 500 years of physical labour. And yes as owner/builders we did much of the labour ourselves, only hiring crews to make the beautiful log walls and put on the roof. Doug did the timberframe joinery with some special trees we brought from our land in the Kootenays. Keeping those connections to create a new home space.
This summer the gardens are taking shape. We have been growing roots and are feeling blessed and at home. ![]()

Flying Hands Farm is in the process of moving……..
From the beautiful Slocan to the equally beautiful Bulkley Valley. We feel privileged and excited to be experiencing the adventure of moving the farm- horses, ducks, chickens, our guard dogs and don’t forget the cat- to over 100 acres northwest of Moricetown, off of Highway #16. We have our civic address-#7288 Highway #16. We will commune with our land very closely while building this summer.
Here is a photo of Alder, who needs a loving forever home. He is a very clever horse and a natural jumper.![]()
